How does it work?

Once you have signed up, we will contact you to confirm your details and discuss your interests, hobbies, and any preferences or requirements you have in a pen pal (for example, age range, identity, shared interests, etc.).

We will not automatically pair you with the first available person—we try to find someone who is a good fit based on the information you've provided. Because our community is still growing, this could take some time.

Once we find a match, we exchange your email addresses with each other. At this point, We step back and it's up to the two of you to get in touch.

You and your pen pal decide what happens next. You might chat by email first to get to know each other and then when you're both comfortable, you can exchange your home addresses and begin sending handwritten letters.

If the match doesn't work out, you can let us know, and we will try to match you with someone else more suitable. You will not need to purchase another membership.

How much does it cost?

There is a one-off cost of £10.00.

How old do you have to be to sign up?

You will need to be at least 18 years old to sign up.

I’m not in the UK, can I sign up?

Unfortunately, at the moment The Pink Postbox is currently only available to people living in the UK. We hope to expand internationally in the future, but for now, you’ll need to have a UK address to take part.

Can I have more than 1 penpal?

Absolutely! You’re welcome to have more than one pen pal. Just let us know that you’d be interested in additional matches, and we’ll do our best to find you another pen pal when someone suitable becomes available. However, we do recommend focusing on developing a relationship with one pen pal first before writing to additional people.

Any advice for my first letter?

Our best advice is to just get started and not worry about making it perfect. Your letter doesn’t have to be beautifully written, and some of the best friendships have developed from the most unconventional introductions. If you really are stuck, try writing about the things that matter to you and try to ask to your pen pal a few questions to give them something to reply to.
